Innocence

Ordinary rock listeners'(not fans') image to RHCP is/was "abnormal," "macho," normally isn't it? For those, it might sound strange somehow, i felt an 'innocent' aspect in them from the early time. i saw kind of sensitivity in their lyrics, statements.

Maybe even if they create wonderful music, i wasn't gonna be a fan much like this if they were mere macho, streotype rockers who say "Yeah! We are number one!!" Of course there are some lyrics like that and i don't deny they have an aspect of macho, though.

When i firstly listened to "UMPP" repeatedly at the airport of New Orleans, i was attracted to "Behind The Sun." At that time my image to the band was only "crazy," "insane," so i thought they were just joking. But i came to know they were serious after i checked the lyric, and felt this tune was very "beautiful" in terms of melody, lyric. i reached to the conclusion that the band which was mere crazy never create the song like this.

There are many other tunes which express their innocence. i think this innocence is one of the characteristic of "West Coast culture" which they embody.

On the other hand, their innocence is thought as their "weakness" too. In that sense, they might go to drugs because their weekness which they hold is so unbearable.
