John Frusciante should worry about people
Recently i've heard the news RZA talked to MTV that he has been making music with John Frusciante. But by RZA's saying, John apparently would not make music for people any more.
Musically, I got a friend of mine that's given me a big musical lesson," RZA explained to us recently in NYC. "His name is John Frusciante from the [Red Hot] Chili Peppers. He said to me that he doesn't make music no more for profit or people. Those that like it, love it or don't love it ― he doesn't worry about the critics. He has enough financial security that he doesn't have to never sell music again. I don't have the same security, because I got so many family members. I'm never gonna be rich enough.
As a fan of RHCP, this news was sad of course. This means that RHCP has possibility of not releasing CDs any more eternally. i don't want John to make music, regardless with or without other Chili Peppers, if he doesn't want do that. But this interview reveals that John is making music. It doesn't mean he lost his passion for the music. If RZA's story is right, John is saying he just doesn't make music FOR PEOPLE and he doesn't want any critic.
i think this is abusolutely non-sense. Because we, as human being, can't live solitary. You can't. We can live only among people. What does it mean to him creating any kinds of arts without letting people know them existing and keep them secret, in spite of the fact that his God inspired him to make those? Is he satisfied with this masturbation-like situation?
i may not a proper person to say like this, but i think creating arts is a way of communication. With those music, you are communicating with other people. With your poetry, you are communicating with others. All the same, we are communicating with our own ways like talking, singing, smiling, touching each other. That's the way we, people are living. That's the way we are. We sometimes get critics despite you are musician or not. We can't live headging all the critics in our lives.
John as a Chili Pepper, i don't have anything to say to him. But as a human being, i just want to give him an advise. You should not quit communicating other people. It's not a matter of music or arts or rock band or so. It's the matter of your mental growth. You should grow up in terms of mentality. Creating music never save you. It's time for you to confront with yourself. i think that's the only thing you have to do. You should worry about people more.

ジョン・フルシアンテは他人を気にするべきだ

おれにすごい音楽のレッスンをしてくれた友人がいる。その名はジョン・フルシアンテ。彼は、「もう自分は利益や他人のために音楽を作ったりはしない」と言っていた。音楽を気に入ったり、好きになったり、嫌いになったりする連中のためにはね。批評も気にしない。それに、彼にはもう2度と音楽を切り売りして稼がなくても、十分に暮らしていけるだけの経済的な余裕がある。 （中略）何度もジョンの家に行って、いっしょに音楽を作った。ただ、音楽を作った。この1年で100曲も完成させたけど、おそらく作った自分たち意外には誰も耳にすることはないだろう。これが気持ちいいんだ。他人に指図されることもなく、売ってしまった後で誰かが作品を批判するんじゃないかとびくびくする必要もない。そんなのは昔話だ。今は本当に居心地がいい。
ファンとして受け止めると、これはもちろん悲しいニュースです。RHCPがもう作品をリリースしないかもしれないという事を意味する訳ですから。RHCPとしてでもソロとしても、ジョン自身が音楽を作りたくないのに作品をリリースしてほしいとは思いません。けれど、このインタビューで分かることは、ジョンは音楽を作っている事です。彼が音楽に対する情熱を失ったという事ではないでしょう。RZAの言ってる事が正しいなら、ジョンはもう、「他人のためには」音楽を作りたくない、そして批評を受けたくないのだという事です。
これはまったくナンセンスだと思います。なぜなら、我々人間はみな一人ぼっちで生きている訳ではないからです。それは無理です。人と人の間で生きていくのが人間でしょう。ジョンにとって「神からの」啓示を受けて作品を作り上げたにもかかわらず、それを誰かに伝えずにしまっておく事が、いったいどんな意味があるというのですか。ジョンは、こんなオナニーみたいな状況に満足しているんでしょうか。
偉そうな事を言える立場にないとは思うのですが、おれは、作品を作り上げる事はコミュニケーションの一手段だと思うのです。音楽を作ることで、あなたは他人とコミュニケートしているんです。詩を書くことで、あなたは他人とコミュニケートしているんです。みんな同じです。話したり、歌ったり、微笑んだり、触ったりして、我々みんなが独自のやり方で他人とコミュニケートしているんです。それが生きるという事でしょう。それが我々のあり方そのものなんです。あなたがミュージシャンであるかどうかにかかわらず、我々は生きていれば少なからず批判を受けることがあります。批判をすべて退けて生きていくことなど不可能です。
RHCPのメンバーとしてジョンに言うべきことは何もありません。ただ人間として、アドバイスを授けさせていただくなら、他人とコミュニケートするのをやめるべきではないという事です。これは音楽とか芸術とかロックバンドとかいう問題ではありません。精神的な成長の話です。彼は精神的な面で成長する必要があると思います。音楽を作ることでけっきょくジョンは救われなかったという事でしょう。自分自身に直面すべき時が来ているのだと思います。それが、ジョンが今するべき事のすべてです。彼はもっと他人の事を「気にする」べきです。
